Song Mino Takes Sick Leave on Final Day of Service, Discharged as Scheduled on Dec 23

According to Star News on December 23, Song Mino completed his 1 year and 9 months of public service duty on this day. He took sick leave and did not appear at his workplace, the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility. Facility director “A”, who oversees the organization, was also absent due to other commitments. A staff member of the facility stated, “It seems (A) is not available today due to a prior schedule.”
After being classified as a Level 4 supplementary service worker during his military physical examination, Song Mino began his alternative service at the Mapo Facility Management Corporation in March last year. In March this year, he transferred to the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility, continuing his service there.
However, as Song Mino’s service period neared its end, suspicions about improper conduct during his duty sparked controversy.
On December 17, Dispatch reported suspicions that Song Mino had not been properly fulfilling his duties. In response, YG Entertainment told MyDaily, “It is difficult to verify detailed information regarding the artist’s service. However, the reasons for his sick leave are extensions of treatments he was receiving prior to his service, and all other leave was used in compliance with regulations.”

Criticism has also been directed at the Military Manpower Administration for failing to monitor the situation adequately. The administration belatedly launched an investigation to verify the facts.

Adding to the controversy, Song Mino was embroiled in dating rumors with actress Park Ju-hyun just a day after the negligence allegations surfaced. The two appeared together in Netflix’s 2022 film “Seoul Vibe”.
Their past public displays of friendship have been revisited amid the dating rumors. In 2022, Song Mino sent a coffee truck to Park Ju-hyun during the filming of her MBC drama “The Forbidden Marriage”. That same year, Park Ju-hyun was spotted attending Song Mino’s brand launch event and solo exhibition, drawing attention. Both agencies have declined to comment on the rumors, citing privacy concerns.
